My family moved south a few years back and while I love to visit, there is never anything to do.

Let me preface this by saying we are from the North. Never sleep NYC to be exact. So since my family has moved south I have yet to experience a night life on my visits and my trips are very frequent.

Just so happens on my last visit we ventured to the S Bar after dinner elsewhere. I didn't have high expectations because I'm well aware NYC vs SC is comparing apples and oranges. It was not my typical scene but I had a good ole time watching Friday night Karaoke and listening to the music in between the “American Idol” auditions.

The venue is very spacious w/ a DJ who was ok, a dance floor, a large bar and several tables and ample seating. The bar tenders were quick and attentive. We didn't order food because we ate prior.

Still not the night life that's my speed but I had the best time enjoying the music and laughing with my fam. Some of the karaoke participants were very good and others just jumped on the mic one too many times.

They are open late, I would probably return.

Just A Note:

The Karaoke goes on a little too long in to the night IMO.

Our bartender Destiny was amazing however it was advertised as country Thursday with line dancing lessons and there were ZERO country songs for well over an hour and when I asked the DJ to play flex a line dancing hit he was dismissive and rude. If you’re looking for real country line dancing this is not the place for you! The music was good and the atmosphere was great but Thursday’s were advertised as country night and they fell completely short and it was disappointing!!! Side note the food took over 45 minutes to get to us and the wings were definitely left out a while.

The food was good service was okay! The drinks were terrible and you are ripping people off! I had 4 tequila shots and felt nothing. I’m not even a drinker! Did not feel anything hubby had 2 drinks nothing. They are giving you cheap alcohol ripping folks off you will get caught doing this! Never going back and I was so excited to go and I and left disappointed !

The food, bar, dj and the environment was truly a wonderful southern experience. I think they should put on one of the biggest trail rides at the baseball stadium downtown, invite some live performers and that smoking dj!!! It will bring people from across the south. Please do it!!!!

Went in, was ignored for 30 minutes at the bar. The place wasn't that crowded yet. But what really got me hot is how is an "upscale" sports bar not going to have TNT when basketball season starts? Asked to watch the Mavs/Spurs game and buddy put it on college football while leading me to believe he was trying to find the game. Wasted my time... now I'm hungry and forced to go home and watch the game, because I didn't have that long to be out. I'll be back though... most of the time things go well..

The S Bar has a nice vibe but we noticed that there were several tables that had been marked reserved. The reservation time had passed by almost 2 hours. Take a cue from other Columbia establishments and allow a 15 minute grace period for reservations. Money walked out of the door because there was no place to sit. Not a good idea.
